A mouse pad that lasts for years

The same full-grain cowhide as our large desk mat: the top layer of the hide with its natural grain, no lacquer and no plastic coating. A cloth pad frays at the edges within a year and its print wears off; leather softens and gains a patina instead. The square 25 × 25 cm format gives the mouse room even at lower sensitivity while taking up little of the desk.

The suede underside grips wood and laminate, so the pad does not creep while you work, and the pad is stitched around the edge to hold its shape. Our post from the workshop shows how it is made.

How a mouse glides on leather

The fine grain gives optical and laser sensors plenty of reference points, so tracking is accurate and consistent. Resistance sits between a gaming speed pad and rubber: a controlled glide where the cursor stops where you want it. New leather feels slightly rougher for the first few days and smooths out quickly where the mouse travels most.

Leather is also quiet and warm under the wrist, which you will notice over a full day of work. We compare it with cloth and rubber in this material guide, and gamers can read our honest take on leather for gaming.

Three colours, initials for free

Choose Cognac (a warm tan that develops the richest patina), Dark Brown (deep chocolate) or Black (the most timeless). Initials of one or two characters are engraved for free, a custom text of 3–10 characters costs €13, and you pick one of six positions.

With its price and size, a monogrammed leather mouse pad is a popular gift for a developer, a colleague or anyone who works from home and wants something on the desk that is not plastic. For whole teams we make corporate gifts.

Care and patina

Wipe the pad with a dry or slightly damp cloth now and then, and apply a colourless leather balm every few months. Keep it out of direct sun and standing water. Where you touch the leather most it will darken and soften: that is patina, the mark of real leather. More in our leather care guide.

Shipping, delivery and returns

Every pad is made to order and dispatched within 2–3 business days. Shipping with Packeta to a pickup point or your address is free across Czechia, Slovakia, Germany, Austria and Poland, and delivery usually takes 3–7 business days from dispatch. Pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay.

A pad without engraving can be returned within 14 days. An engraved pad is made to your specification and cannot be returned. Details are on the shipping page and in the terms and conditions.

FAQ

Questions about the mouse pad

Does a leather mouse pad work with optical and laser mice?

Yes. The fine grain gives both kinds of sensor plenty of reference points; in our testing we saw no tracking dropouts, even with high-DPI mice.

How long does a leather mouse pad last?

Full-grain leather lasts for years of daily use. Unlike cloth it does not fray and has no print to wear off; the surface softens and gains a patina instead.

Is a leather mouse pad good for gaming?

For work and casual gaming, yes. Resistance is a little higher than on a gaming speed pad, so for competitive shooters a specialised pad is the better choice. Our gaming post goes into detail.

What is the difference from the desk mat?

Only the size. The mouse pad is 25 × 25 cm and meant for the mouse alone; the desk mat is 80 × 45 cm and fits a keyboard and laptop too. Leather, colours and engraving are the same.
